Privacy Policy

How Stony Point Services collects, uses and protects the information you share with us.

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Who we are

Stony Point Services is a notary and document services business in Shelby, North Carolina. It is a brand of Stony Point Partners, LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. In this policy, “we,” “us” and “our” mean Stony Point Services and Stony Point Partners, LLC. This policy covers our website, stonypointservices.com, and the information you give us by phone, by text and at appointments.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to schedule and complete your appointment.

  • When you call or text us: your name, phone number, the service you need, the number of signers, your preferred date and time, and any details you choose to tell us about your documents.
  • For mobile appointments: the address where we’ll meet you, and your written agreement to the travel fee (estimated mileage, rate and date), as North Carolina rules require.
  • At your appointment: we look at your government-issued ID to confirm who you are, or we identify you through a credible witness. We record each notarization in our notary journal. A journal entry can include your name and address, the type of ID and its details, the type of document and notarial act, the date and time, the fee, and your signature. For video notarizations, it also includes the county you were in, the ID’s issuing agency and number, and the video technology used. We may save screenshots or a recording of the video call showing your face, your ID and the document.
  • For document services: the documents you ask us to scan, print, organize, store or send for e-signature, plus the names and phone numbers of any signers you add.
  • Payment: the amount you paid and how. We don’t take payments through this website.

Our website

  • No forms, no accounts, no online booking. You book with us by phone or text.
  • Cookies: our website platform sets a small number of essential cookies so the site works and stays secure. Our security and delivery provider (Cloudflare) may also set a cookie to help block automated attacks. We don’t use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics that follow you across sites.
  • Server logs: like most websites, our host and Cloudflare automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use it only to run and protect the site.

How we use your information

  • To schedule, confirm and complete your appointment, and to contact you about it.
  • To verify identity and perform notarial acts as North Carolina law requires.
  • To calculate and record travel fees you’ve agreed to.
  • To perform document services you ask for.
  • To keep required records, protect against fraud, and comply with the law.

Texts

We text you only about appointments you’ve asked about: confirmations, travel-fee agreements, directions and reminders. We don’t send marketing texts. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, or call us.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only:

  • with the people involved in your transaction, as you or they instruct. For example, returning a signed loan package to the closing attorney or title company that requested the signing.
  • with service providers who help us run the business, such as our phone and texting carrier, website host, Cloudflare, an e-signature service you’ve asked us to use, and shipping carriers. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
  • when the law requires it. North Carolina law requires notaries to keep a signer’s documents and information confidential. We disclose notarial information only as the law allows, for example under a subpoena, court order or search warrant, at the request of the N.C. Department of the Secretary of State, or with the written request of all signers (G.S. 10B-20(p); 18 NCAC 07D .0601–.0606). Our notary journals are kept confidential and are not public records (G.S. 10B-20(q)).

How long we keep it

  • Notary journals and travel-fee agreements: we keep them as notarial records. Each journal is stored securely for at least 10 years after its last entry, including after it is full and archived. Journal entries are not public records.
  • Appointment texts and call details: only as long as we need them for the appointment, our records and our taxes.
  • Documents you give us for document services: we return your originals. We keep copies or archives only on the terms we agree with you in writing, and we delete or hand them back when that agreement ends.
  • We don’t photocopy your ID at in-person appointments. For video notarizations, any screenshots or recordings that show your ID are kept with our notary journal, secured and confidential.

How we protect it

We keep records in locked storage or on password-protected systems, limit access to Roggie and Amy, and use secure methods to send documents. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify you as North Carolina law requires (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-65).

Children

Our website isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information online. Minors can be signers only with the documents and ID the law requires, usually with a parent or guardian.

Your choices

  • You can ask what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
  • We’ll honor deletion requests except for records the law requires us to keep, such as notarial records.
  • You can stop our texts at any time by replying STOP.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some site features may not work without essential cookies.
  • We’ll respond within 30 days.
